RegulationsJPMA monitors federal and state regulations that impact the juvenile and baby products industry. Children's products are regulated by numerous federal government agencies including the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). StandardsIn addition to Federal and State regulations, the juvenile and baby products industry is also subject to voluntary standards and retailer requirements. In 2012, JPMA added all these requirements on top of the existing ASTM Standards to enhance the JPMA Certification Program. For the first time in its history, JPMA expanded the scope of it's program providing a turnkey solution for participants to fulfill all necessary requirements for juvenile and baby products sold in the United States. Learn more about the ASTM Standards. ASTMFormerly the American Society for Testing and Materials, ASTM is a highly regarded non-profit organization that publishes standards for materials, products, systems and services. JPMA encourages all members to join ASTM and engage in the consensus-based standard setting process. Juvenile product-related subcommittee meetings are typically held quarterly at ASTM headquarters in West Conshohocken, PA and interim task group calls take place via teleconference. Joining ASTM offers JPMA members a host of benefits. Consider joining ASTM today!
