Certification Program

For more than 40 years, JPMA has helped parents feel confident in choosing safe products for their baby.

Baby products must meet minimum government requirements based on safety and use. The JPMA Certification Seal signifies a product meets these and additional requirements in today’s marketplace. To become certified, each product is sample-tested at an independent laboratory to verify it meets the highest standards for safety, performance and functionality.

JPMA Certification is voluntary, and based on adherence to ASTM standards, federal and state laws and some retail requirements. The program is designed to provide peace of mind to parents that these products have been independently tested to the most stringent standards.

JPMA Certification and the pre-qualification program offers significant benefits for sellers on Amazon, including:

  • Minimizes the risk of your products being removed from the platform, safeguarding your sales continuity

  • No need for direct communication with Amazon for documentation submission purposes, in the case of a product related concern or question, simplifying issue resolution

  • Value-added support beyond mere certification, assisting sellers in navigating the complexities of selling on Amazon effectively

JPMA Certification Technical Guidance & Resources

JPMA has identified the testing requirements you need to meet through the development of the JPMA Protocols. These protocols outline all requirements while also identifying where document acceptance is allowed and what evidence is needed to achieve it. It also indicates which tests must be performed by a third party laboratory.

The JPMA Procedural Guide is your step by step guide to complying with the Certification Program. The Program Process Flow Chart is a concise outline of the requirements outlined in the Procedural Guide.
