Congratulations to the 2017 JPMA Scholarship Recipients

JPMA recently awarded five, $2,500 scholarships to children of JPMA member company employees, in their pursuit of excellence in higher education.


The recipients of the 2017 Scholarship Program are:



Juliana Chimenti, Daughter of Michael Chimenti of Mattel

Juliana attends Montclair State University and is pursuing a BFA degree in Musical Theater.







Omar Kana, Son of Mod Kana of Crown Crafts, Inc.

Omar is a senior at Louisiana State University and is studying Biochemistry.









Sumeet Kler, Son of Daljit Kler of Kushies Baby

Sumeet attends the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Ontario and is in the Mechatronics Engineering program.








Evan Turner, Son of Jane Turner of Mattel

Evan is attending the University at Buffalo as part of the honors program and majoring in Computer Engineering.








Bailey King , Daughter of Daniel King of Mattel

Bailey attends Mercyhurst University in Pennsylvania, where she is majoring in Biochemistry and will graduate in 2018.







“For the past couple of years, due to slashes in state educational funding, I have had issues paying for school,” remarked 2017 JPMA Scholarship recipient Omar Kana. “This scholarship allows me to focus on my studies at such a crucial moment in my academic career.”


Congratulations to each of this year’s recipients and best of luck in your future endeavors.


The Scholarship Program was instituted in 1995 with the hope of making more students aware of the juvenile products industry. Since the program’s inception, JPMA has awarded nearly $270,000 to 130 students.
