What is JPMA's role on the Hill?

JPMA’s Washington office is responsible for political advocacy efforts at the federal level. It works with members of Congress and staff on a continuous basis and monitors legislation that affects the manufacturing of our products, chemical disclosures and other issues that directly affect the juvenile products industry. Staff members and like-minded organizations and associations frequently visit Capitol Hill to engage, educate and inform legislators on how bills will positively or negatively impact the industry.

JPMA also organizes special events to encourage our volunteers to meet with their representatives on industry issues. Annual events focus on educating Congressional Members and staff about our industry.

The JPMA product showcase held in 2014 provided more than $12,000 in donations to a local DC Charity.

In 2015, JPMA partnered with the US Capitol Police to hold a car seat check for local DC residents, Congressional staff and members.

TSCA Reform

JPMA board members and volunteers have also devoted significant time to pressing elected representatives to support TSCA reform. Through our efforts, in 2015, JPMA and our allies have met with more than 100 Senate and House offices. JPMA strives to work with our manufacturers to ensure their voice is heard through petitions, emails, phone calls and face-to-face meetings with key decision makers.

As the voice of the juvenile industry, our staff remains committed to advocating for your interests on Capitol Hill.
