Nearly all of the ASTM F15 Juvenile Product Subcommittees met over the week of September 26, 2016 at ASTM Headquarters in West Conshohocken, Pennsylvania. Over the course of the four days meetings took place, nearly 100 manufacturers, consultants, lab representatives, advocates and staff from CPSC, ASTM and JPMA came together to discuss incident data, ongoing proposals and revisions to the existing standards.
Many of the product categories are currently in various stages of the CPSC 104 Rulemaking process.
Involvement in this consensus-based activity is the best way that manufacturers can stay abreast of the changes being implemented, as well as helping guide the process so that individual products will remain in compliance. Read more about why you should engage in the ASTM process here.
Following the meetings, task groups for each of the subcommittees will reconvene to begin new work or continue discussions related to incident data analysis, incorporation of ad hoc language and proposals not yet ready to ballot.
A brief recap of each subcommittee meeting will be posted on jpma.org when available. Interim meetings will take place January 17-18 at ASTM Headquarters and the schedule and registration information will be posted on ASTM.org shortly.
If you have questions about ASTM membership and how it can impact your company and products, please reach out to Lisa Trofe, JPMA’s Director of Product Safety & Certification.
