It’s that time of year again when you hear the JPMA Industry Statistical Study data collection is underway. That little voice in the back of your mind is saying don’t ignore it, but the work sitting on your desk is taking priority and you feel like you just can’t go there yet. We get it and we’re here to help. Here are a few ways you can prepare:
1. Grab a Coffee – On Us
You’re going to need one, because looking at numbers requires caffeine. The person responsible for reporting your data will soon receive a Starbucks electronic gift card via email courtesy of JPMA.
2. Download the Data Collection Worksheet
The report categories are now more reflective of the way you see product organized on retail shelves and websites. Get to know the new categories and their descriptions with this condensed worksheet. The worksheet is your friend.
3. Begin Pulling Your 2014 and 2015 Sales Data
This year we are assessing both 2014 and 2015 data in one report. The report will ask for Unit Shipments and US Dollar Sales for both years. You can fill in the numbers by category on the worksheet so you’re ready to rock and roll when it’s time to complete the survey.
4. If You Have the Resources, Delegate
Once the worksheet is completed, the rest is easy. If you have the resources, delegate the completion of the survey to another employee. They will have all of the numbers listed on the worksheet so entering data will be easy. You can also start the report and pick it back up another day.
5. Don’t Wait Until September 9 to Start
If you wait until the last minute; instead of coffee, you’re going to need NoDoz. It will be reminiscent of your college days cramming for finals, but without the post-finals party fun. Don’t delay, do it today.
The industry needs your participation to provide meaningful industry data, so please complete your company’s survey before September 12.
