Throughout the year, at their discretion, ASTM International committees present Technical Committee Awards. These awards are given for outstanding service to the committee or subcommittee; for outstanding contributions to the development of a standard or group of standards; and to show appreciation for a specific service.
Michael Steinwachs, Sr. Manger of Quality Engineering, Fisher-Price, was recently awarded the ASTM Committee F15 on Consumer Products Standard Development Award in appreciation for his leadership and technical contributions resulting in the development of ASTM F3118 Consumer Safety Specification for Infant Inclined Sleep Products.
“The F15 executive subcommittee was pleased to recognize Mike’s leadership resulting in a new standard covering Inclined Sleep Products,” says Rick Rosati, Chair of the ASTM F15 Executive Subcommittee.
Leonard Morrissey, Director, TCO Division at ASTM International notes, “The ASTM Inclined Sleeper Subcommittee worked quickly to develop a new standard for these products and Mike’s leadership was critical in keeping the group on track and moving forward. We’re glad to recognize him for his outstanding efforts.”
JPMA would like to congratulate Mr. Steinwachs and thank him for serving the industry in such an impactful way.
The JPMA Certification Program is built on ASTM standards, and JPMA encourages all manufacturers to participate in the ASTM standard-setting process. Joining ASTM technical subcommittees allows participants to be involved in the process of improving existing standards and developing new standards as innovative products enter the marketplace. These standards, as developed with input from engineers, manufacturers, consumer advocates and consultants, ensure the safety of products the U.S. consumer population has come to rely on.
