Since establishing the Washington, DC office several years ago, and with the continued help and support of our manufacturers, JPMA has had the opportunity to strengthen our position and influence in state and federal regulation and legislation.
Earlier in the month, Delta Children welcomed Mayor of New York City, Bill DeBlasio, to its New York City showroom to discuss crib safety. The family-owned business, known for its Safe Sleep Campaign, has made it a goal to ensure that every baby has a safe place to sleep. President Joseph Shamie offered the Mayor a generous donation of cribs for his citywide baby shower initiative, and promised to aid in safety education to families.
Additionally, U.S. CPSC Commissioner Ann Marie Buerkle and JPMA Director of Regulatory Affairs, Mark Fellin traveled to Austin, Texas to visit with one of JPMA's newest members and Innovation Award Winner, Austlen Baby Co. to discuss their company, their product line and the challenges of bringing a new product to market.
"Leslie Stiba and her team at Austlen Baby Co. have developed a state of the art baby stroller that meets the needs of today’s busy and active parents," remarked Buerkle. "It was hard work, perseverance and a vision that brought this truly remarkable product to market. Thanks to their entrepreneurial spirit and drive for excellence, an exceptionally designed, safe and highly functional baby stroller will be available to parents who want a stroller that truly "does it all"."
JPMA members continue to work with regulators and legislators to not only showcase the wonderful work that their companies are doing, but also to continue to promote JPMA as a leader in children’s safety and engage stakeholders to promote platforms that represent the key issues for our industry.
JPMA Executive Director, Kelly Mariotti noted that, "these types of visits are vital to the core mission of our Association. Establishing these relationships allows our members to showcase the great work they are doing to advance safety and at the same time educate key stakeholders about our industry."
If your company is interested in having local officials or government representatives visit your facilities to learn more about your company, please do not hesitate to contact JPMA's Director of Regulatory and Legislative Affairs, Mark Fellin at firstname.lastname@example.org.
