State and local jurisdictions often work to pass legislation that directly corresponds with issues in that state or region. The motivation for local action is often prompted by an incident, environmental change or lack of Federal guidance. JPMA tracks these issues and works with all stakeholders to address the necessity of state regulations and the establishment of sound public policy. When new legislation or regulations are introduced or changes to existing laws or regulations are proposed, the “public” which includes all stakeholders on the subject including business, consumer advocates and individual consumers are encouraged to share their perspective, opinions, data and incidents if available on the particular issue. This part of the legal and regulatory process is known as filing public comments. JPMA takes the opportunity to make its position known and works to ensure sound public policy by filing public comments on those issues that impacts the juvenile industry.
